The Teresa Ines Group, a Brazilian Jazz Quintet, features Alon Yavnai on piano, Gustavo Amarante on electric bass, Hiro Honshuku on flutes, Harvey Wirht on drums. Ines' voice is characterized as both soft and intense. Her technical grasp is masterful, as is her remarkable use of polychromaticism. Listening to her music is like traveling through flashes of rhythms and melodies, many of which are virtually unknown outside of Brazil.
The work of this talented singer and composer has been characterized by an incessant exploration of a unique blend of rhythms and sounds of her native country. Shrewdly combining her advanced training, a creative musicality, and a great familiarity with Brazilian music, Teresa uses Brazilian folk music and harmonious jazz to sculpt a music of sophistication and tenderness, which will be marked upon what is sure to be a wonderful night.
