A-NO-NE Christmas w/ Hiroaki Honshuku
Each
year A-NO-NE Ensemble, a Jazz and Brazilian influenced music group
formed in the late 80's by virtuoso flutist Hiro Honshuku from
Kamakura, Japan brings his audience a delightfully improvisational take
on traditional holiday favorites. A-NO-NE Christmas concerts, performed
each year in different venues throughout New England, include upbeat
selections from their "A-NO-NE Christmas" and "Not That Silent Night"
CDs. Selections of traditional Christmas hymnals recomposed by Hiro
Honshuku, using twisted harmony structure, influenced by George
Russell's Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization, coupled with
a Brazilian jazz groove. It will be a

Newpoli Italian Holiday Concert
For the
first time in Boston, Newpoli will perform Christmas carols from the
folk tradition of various Italian regions such as Lazio, Campania ,
Puglia , Basilicata and Sicilia. The repertoire will include
traditional folk prayers, simple but spirited in their melodies and
captivating tarantellas that will make you dance. Most notably the
evening's program will feature spiritual songs by the Neapolitan
bishop, Saint Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori. Around the mid-eighteen
century, de' Liguori composed most of his Christmas repertoire in
Italian and Neapolitan dialect, inspired by the folk stories of the
people of Naples . Newpoli, guided by their passion for playing and
researching these seldom played traditional songs, introduces the joy
and beauty of this music while recounting the ancient stories described
in the lyrics.

Artist Live - Boston Teen Saturdays!
Artist Live Boston . . . "Teens" is an TEN WEEK COMPETITION, that will
take place Saturdays at Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge, MA. A panel of
SELECTED, DISTINGUISHED JUDGES will select ONE WINNER from EACH
COMPETITION. Those TEN WINNERS will go on to compete at a GRAND FINALE,
and ONE WINNER will be given the OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME.
Hosted by Teen TV Star Lil JJ. Dubbed the "Prince of Comedy," Lil' JJ
acquired his nickname when he won BET's comedy talent search "Coming to
the Stage" in 2003 at the ripe age of 13.
Since winning the competition and building a reputation as a funny and
witty stand-up comic, Lil' JJ has landed several acting gigs in movies
such as "Beauty Shop" (2005), "Yours, Mine, and Ours" (2005), and
"Crossover" (2006). Determined to succeed and make a lasting impact in
the entertainment industry, especially the comedy world, Lil' JJ was
granted this opportunity when he was offered the starring role on
Nickelodeon's comedy show "Just Jordan," which is loosely based on his
life, in 2007, and the lead role in Ice Cube's film "Janky Promoters"
(2009). In 2009, Lil JJ was featured in the critically acclaimed ABC
Family show "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." Recently, Lil
JJ could be seen in the new hit TNT show "Men of a Certain Age," which
has been renewed for a second season.
